Perennial strongly recommends solutions based on Free and Open Source tools and technologies. Why?

  • Quality. Open Source development is a superior methodology for producing quality software. The barriers to entry are low so anyone who is skilled and interested enough can contribute to an Open Source project.
  • Freedom. You are free to obtain, copy, fix, share...
  • Accountability. When their source code is open for scrutiny by anyone, an Open Source developer puts their reputation on the line publicly. This is also a strong driver for quality.
  • Standards. Software and software development based on standards makes the end-product more "future-proof".
  • Strategic Control. Vendor lock-in is dramatically reduced with an Open Source solution. There are far less issues with finding an alternative to an underperforming provider. This keeps Perennial on its toes!
